Organic English Breakfast is a bold, full-bodied black tea with a smooth, malty finish and a brisk, classic character. It is single-origin, grown at the Lumbini Tea Valley in southern of Sri Lanka, and USDA Organic with one ingredient: organic loose leaf black tea. Brewed, it pours a deep amber, reddish-copper cup, rich and satisfying with just enough astringency to wake up your morning. It is naturally high in caffeine for a tea, roughly half of what you get from a cup of coffee, so it lifts you without the same jolt.

Expect malty depth, a hint of toast, and a clean, smooth finish. This is breakfast tea done right, and it also works well as an afternoon tea.

From one family-run garden. Lumbini Tea Valley sits near Sri Lanka's Sinharaja Rainforest, it is one of the great tea gardens of the region, where misty mountain air, nutrient-rich soil, and clean river water make ideal growing conditions for black tea. This region was once known as Ceylon, and teas from Sri Lanka are still called Ceylon teas today, prized for bold, brisk flavor and a smooth finish. Lumbini is recognized for award-winning teas and sustainable farming that looks after both the land and the people who work it. You can taste that care in every cup.

A tea with history. English Breakfast is often traced to Scottish tea merchant Richard Davies in the 1800s, and it quickly became a fixture of the British morning. Many Brits still reach for it first thing, whether they take it straight, with a splash of milk, or with lemon, honey, or sugar. Our version keeps that tradition and brings the freshness of organic tea leaves.

How to prepare the perfect cup. Bring filtered water to a boil at 212°F. Warming your teapot or mug first helps the flavor open up. Use one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water and steep 3 to 5 minutes, to taste. Black tea carries natural tannins, so time your steep: pull the leaves around five minutes to keep it smooth, since a longer steep draws out more astringent flavor, or bitter notes. Avoid re-boiling your water, which can flatten the flavor. Drink it hot or pour it over ice. It holds up beautifully to a moderate amount of milk or sweetener and is just as good on its own. Available in loose leaf and in pyramid tea sachets, also known as teabags, so it is easy to brew however you take your morning tea.
