Climber's High Chai, Organic

This is NOT the Climber’s High Chai Tea, despite it retaining the same name after the organic rework. This organic ‘version’ needs a new name and the original formula needs to come back as this new blend is a complete disservice to what the original Climbers High Chai was. It’s overly heavy on the black tea flavor and lost all of the heart and soul that the original formula had. I’ve been a die-hard fan of the original and it was a staple every time I needed to re-order and was extremely bummed when it was sold out while they worked on releasing the organic version (truly thought it was already organic initially); but I had hopes it would be fine once it returned. I couldn’t have been more wrong and disappointed by the replacement organic version. The black tea completely overpowers any sort of resemblance of what the original was and it’s a shame. While not necessarily a completely bad chai tea, it’s an awful impersonation of the true original Climber’s High Chai Tea. The original was a 12/10, this disingenuous organic version is a 2/10.

Now if this organic blend carried a different name I think it could be a decent option but this falls so short to what the original was. I’ve had some of their other chai teas that comprise a distinct black-tea base and it’s an unmistakable flavor and generally overpowers any other flavor associated with it. The original flavor was light with a smokey campfire-esque spice yet refreshingly bold. The organic version tastes just like any bland black tea, feels ‘heavy’, and only has a very subtle hint of the original smoky spicy chai flavor that made the original so distinct and excellent.

The Tea Spot, I love your teas and am a frequent enthusiast since Feb ‘24, Climbers High Chai was my go-to all-time favorite chai tea and I really really hope you can (if at all possible) bring the original back. Not just for me but for everyone who knew and loved the original tea for what it was; and out of respect of the original, both in name and flavor.

At the very least rename this organic version to something else…

I have been drinking this for years now. I love it first thing in the morning and drink a whole extra large tumbler full. It's bold enough to replace my coffee and when I am traveling and don't bring my tea with me I really crave it. I brew it extra long (maybe 15 min) and drink it without sugar or milk.

I love this tea. I've been drinking it for nearly a decade and it's one of my go to teas.

There was some issues of availability so I order more as soon as it became available and what I got was not "Climber's High"; what I got was an absolute travesty that has no depth or chai flavor to it at all. They have ruined this tea and I'm devastated.

!!! You have to be conscious of the components of this tea. I've experimented at found straight boiling at 212 and even the recommended 203 doesn't work. Yerba mate generally brews nice and herbal at 195F. But if you go above that the pu'erh is going to overpower the rest of the ingredients. The pu'erh is strong in this anyways. There's a good amount of fennel and vanilla here. Sometimes I mix with the Tumeric Tonic for more kick. It's a nice, smooth tea otherwise, no sweetener or cream needed. Certainly different from the usual heavy chai.

The teas from this shop are so good, will definately order more. Highly recommend
