The leaves of this Chinese green tea are tightly rolled into the shape of little tiny pellets making a pearl tea resembling gunpowder, hence its name. Tastes bold & lightly smoky. Higher in caffeine than most green teas (35-40 mg/8 oz serving). Commonly used by athletes to improve endurance.

Not Disappointed

I was a bit shy about trying it because of the 'smoked' flavor description, but gave it a 'shot' anyway.

The flavor is definitely different and more robust, but I found it smooth.

Having a variety of teas on hand is certainly a benefit. I've discovered I might not care much for one tea, but when I try it again a month or two later I actually enjoy it. I'm finding my taste buds tend to change and not sure why. Like when I'll crave certain teas. Especially if my digestion system is upset I'll find the green and oolong teas soothing on my system.

Nice green tea

I was excited to try loose leaf teas. I thought for sure they would be much better than tea bags. However, I could not really taste a difference from bagged tea. Tried 10 different varieties and only a couple tasted better and not very much so. This green tea was the exception. Was better than green tea in a tea bag.

Good green

Tastes strongly of green tea, although some people are telling me gunpowder-green isn't the best at all, which I would have to disagree. I am liking it so far and it's definitely better on the tea spot for making it cheaper than other companies. I know it's a "Generic" type of tea, but I personally like any green tea, tastes similar to black tea except slightly more grassy flavor. I would recommend. It's also a steal with the bulk amount, most green teas already have catechins and gunpowder green tea is high in catechins. Much better than store brand, that's for sure.

My favorite green tea. Excellent flavor, absolutely delicious !!

New to this tea and love it!

I'd never heard of gunpowder tea before. Sometimes green teas can be a bit bitter, but this is not, even when steeped a little longer than what was recommended. It doesn't need any sweetener or any enhancement either!
