Wild Harvest Green Pu'erh

My first experience with this tea was with the sachets, and that was pretty good. But I have to say, the loose leaf version is even better! The aroma of this tea alone is incredible, as are the first few steeps (gong fu brewing). This is potent material and will go all day long with 30 sec steeps. I generally only review teas I get excited about, and this is no exception! I have to thank The Tea Spot for investing in the tree that supplies this tea and hope to see it in-stock for a long while.

I bought the loose leaves and try not to steep for longer than 3 minutes. I think it has a fun and exotic flavor that’s perfect for the afternoon break. It’s much better than having another cup of coffee.

This "green" preparation of the tea leaves that are usually fermented to a very dark black (which I am a huge fan of), is incredible. It's brewed like an oolong, and has a rich flavor. It has a noticeable calming effect for me (maybe it contains a significant amount of L-theanine or GABA?) which reduces anxiety and helps my mental focus. I'd suggest brewing with a large quantity of leaves for the volume of water used, but for a short duration to keep the tannin content low. Then you can steep multiple times with the same leaves.

Lightning-fast delivery times.

The tea has an earthy, strong, clean taste and smells amazing. The longer the leaves steep, the stronger the flavor so if you prefer a mild flavor, remove after 5 min or so.

I love that I can keep adding water and it doesn't dilute the flavor. You get 3+ cups of concentrated flavor from a tablespoon of leaves.

I like this tea. It is not strong. It seems to be losing its taste over time... maybe it needs to be sealed in a super tight bag (?).
